Lucky Blackjack
There are many different variations of the game of blackjack and every version has its own rules and winning odds.
One of these popular variants is one called “Lucky Blackjack”, which is a blend of card and table game with fast action and great winning odds.
In classic Black Jack the objective of the game is to build a hand that it’s either 21 in value (Blackjack) or higher than the total value of the dealer’s hand but Lucky Blackjack is quite different.
In Lucky Blackjack the purpose of the game is to bet on the total end value of the dealer’s hand.
Keep in mind that only the dealer will be dealt a hand in this game, players will only bet on the hand value of the dealer.
Lucky Blackjack offers 7 different hand values that you can bet on: 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, Bust and Black jack.
You will noticed that the lowest point value you can bet on is 17. This has to do with the casino rules whereby the dealer has to draw to 16 and Stand on all 17′s – hard and soft.
The Odds of Each Betting Option
You now know the rules of Lucky Blackjack but how do you decide which point value to bet on? Which one has the best odds of winning?
In order to have a better understanding of the winning probabilities of each of these 7 possible outcomes, we have to analyze the odds of the dealer having each of these final hand values.
Betting on Natural Blackjack will offer a 4.82% odds of winning, whereas betting on 21, that is the dealer drawing additional cards and getting to 21, will give you a 7.36% odds of winning.
If you were to bet that the dealer will finish with a hand that totals 20 in value, the odds of winning increase to 17.59%.
This means that betting on 20 is actually the most likely bet to win.
The next option is to bet on 19. Placing a bet on 19 offers a 13.48% chance of winning, whereas betting on 18 will give you a 13.81% probability of winning the bet.
Finally, betting that the dealer will end up with a total point value of 17 offers a probability of winning of 14.58%.
As you know by now, it’s not possible to place a wager on a point value of 16 but it’s important to mention that the dealer is more likely to draw 16 than any other hand value (16-21); the chances of this happening is an impressive 28.36%.
Why is this relevant, you may ask? Well, the rules of the game dictate that the dealer must Hit when he has a hand value of 16 and the chances of the dealer going bust after hitting with 16 are a huge 42.08%.
With these two probabilities in mind, you can have a much better idea of the likelihood of the dealer going Bust.
While placing bets in Lucky Blackjack may appear absolutely random at first glance, understanding the statistics of Blackjack and the probabilities of drawing different hands proves that there is more skill to this game than one may have imagined. Have fun playing Lucky Blackjack and good luck!
